Our Seasons

Each season at Hallagenna brings a different side of Bodmin Moor to life, from spring wildflowers and newborn foals to golden autumn woods and cosy winter fires.

Spring (Mar–May)

Cornish hedgerows fill with daffodils, bluebells and wildflowers, while swallows and garden birds return to nest and feed. Pony trekking starts at the nearby stables, and local attractions and National Trust properties open their doors as lambs, calves and foals appear on the moor.

Summer (Jun–Aug)

Long, light days are perfect for picnics by the stream at Delford Bridge, spotting foals, swallows and rabbits around the paddocks. Fields come alive with haymaking and harvest, village carnivals fill the calendar, and the Royal Cornwall Show in Wadebridge brings together farming, food, crafts and entertainment.

Autumn (Sep–Nov)

Autumn brings golden leaves, quieter beaches and dramatic Atlantic surf along the coast. Walk in woods such as Cardinham or Respryn, cycle the Camel Trail through autumn colour, and forage blackberries and conkers in the hedgerows while local churches celebrate the harvest.

Winter (Dec–Feb)

Milder than much of the UK, winter on Bodmin Moor means crisp frosty mornings, mist drifting over the moor and cosy evenings by the fire. Warm up in the nearby Old Inn with its open log fire, visit the horses in the winter stables, then retreat to your cottage with central heating and a log burner to relax after a bracing day outside.
